Looking to go to a place for breakfast or lunch, but are tired of the usual Dunkin, Starbucks, Muffin House? Just a few minutes off of 495 and only two blocks from the local library, The Coffee Loft is the perfect place to stop for a bite to eat or a fresh brewed coffee.
A Stone’s Throw Away
Just two towns over, The Coffee Loft is an easy drive for good quality food. After taking 495 for about 10 minutes and getting off at exit 63A, look for a brick building with green awnings and you will find The Coffee Loft. The place generally looks lowkey from the outside, being nothing but a brick building, but the yellow painted sign gives the eye a taste of what it’s really like.
Stepping Inside
Walking through the door at The Coffee Loft, you’re immediately transported into a calm, cozy environment. The senses are slowly taken over as the soft natural lighting fills the room, and a thick aroma of coffee and baked goods fills the air, and immediately you are greeted by the friendly, outgoing workers. It’s hard not to let your eyes dance over every possible pastry in the case, from apple strudel muffins to blueberry crumb cakes to yogurt parfaits.

Looking around, the room is covered with art and personal touches. Above the coffee station, with straws, utensils, sugar, and more, there is a sticky note board filled with funny, kind, inspirational quotes and even cute drawings. Anyone can add to the board, creating a fun and interactive experience for customers to feel even more at home.
There were no empty walls, each had some unique painting or art piece, adding to the welcoming homey atmosphere. On display they had merchandise with cups, shirts, sweatshirts, sweatpants, baseball caps, and beanies. Not to mention the artwork from local artists and even some of their own workers, ranging from handmade bracelets to handmade bookmarks.

Feeling Hungry
The menu was filled with different signature coffees, teas, breakfast and lunch sandwiches, and smoothies. Together we ordered a grilled corn muffin with butter, a chicken caprese, a chai tea and a mango banana pineapple smoothie.
Deciding what to order was difficult because they had a lot of healthy options that looked extremely inviting for breakfast or lunch. We also noticed that they had a lot of vegan and gluten free options, such as muffins, which showed their inclusivity for everyone. All of their items were reasonably priced, and the serving size was filling.
Where to Sit?
Once we got our food, we were overwhelmed by the amount of seating options. There were around five tables in the main seating area, some with normal chairs and others with booths on one end or a couch. There were also bar seats in front of the large windows on the front of the building.

In the more secluded area next to the order area, there were big comfy chairs with a homey vibe. They had a chess board table with couches on each side and an additional bar area in the back.
But our favorite spot was hidden behind the main shop. The area was filled with plants and soft lighting. The seating was all soft and comfy, not your typical seating options. With beanbags and floor pillows, this was the perfect place for a quiet conversation with a friend or to lock in with some work. The cafe had a variety of seating options, catering to every individual’s needs.
Mediocre, Good, or a Hidden Gem?
As an overall rating of the food, we gave The Coffee Loft a 10/10. The food was cooked and baked with fresh ingredients, and after we finished eating we felt fulfilled and happy. The ratio of butter to muffin was exceptionally good, and you could tell the servers cared about what it was going to taste like. It was wrapped in a way that held the warmth, and we actually needed to wait a minute before eating it. The caprese, similar to the muffin, was definitely made with thought. The serving size was not super big, which made us unsure at first, but since the quality of the ingredients was so good, it was perfectly filling.

As for the tea and the smoothie, the biggest takeaway we both had was, again, the freshness of the ingredients. We would recommend getting a lighter drink with anything from their bakery, as it was filling, and anything sandwich, etc. to get with a smoothie. The combination of a baked good and a tea, a lighter sandwich plus a heavier drink, a great vibe to the entrance, and unique seating definitely makes The Coffee Loft a hidden gem.
