For a majority of the seniors, this spring will be their last real time in a competitive sports atmosphere. This is not the case for Hiller Lacrosse stand-out, Calvin Lee.
Next spring, Lee will be part of the lacrosse program at Colby College. “I honestly fell in love with the place. Despite being in the middle of no where (Waterville , Maine), the campus was beautiful and all the people there where so chill,†stated Lee. Lee is a captain on this years lax team that intends to have a successful season, and take a shot at the MIAA tournament. Along with Pete Racenis and Sam MacDonald, he will lead the team to one of the best in recent years.
Although Lee is still unsure of his major, either psychology, business, or education, he is very excited for next year at Colby. Lee states that his relationship with the coach at Colby was an important aspect in his decision, “I immediately connected with the coach, Jon Thompson. He’s a young guy and it was his first season as head coach at Colby [he was the assistant coach at Brown before taking the job at Colby]. He has a passion for the game, is a fierce competitor, and is overall a great guy. He really cares about the young guys he is recruiting on and off the field.â€
When asked why he chose Colby over other schools he said, “The reasons for choosing Colby College are simple. It is great academically, has a top notch lacrosse program, the guys on the team are all bros and the relationship I’ve developed over the last year with Coach Thompson.”
“I want to give a special thanks to my parents for their support throughout the whole recruiting process. Being the first to be recruited to a college for sports [in his family], it was a new experience for them as well. I also want to thank my coaches Jon Middleton and Justin O’leary. They both pushed me and expected a lot from my as a young man and a lacrosse player and for that I am grateful. Finally I want to thank God for the opportunity to be recruited and play a game a love at the college level. It’s definitely a blessing,â€said Lee about his lacrosse experience.
Hiller lax fans are anxious to see how Calvin Lee finishes his high school lacrosse season, and his college lax experience.
