The Hiller Boys Varsity Soccer team won 3-0 against Medfield on Monday, October 5th, to put them in great position in the Tri Valley League with a record of 5-1-2 (6-1-2 non league play). The strong offensive showing for the Hillers was lead by juniors Mike Ronan and Graham Eagan as well as sophomore Mike Somadelis, who each scored a goal in the game.
The Hiller’s team consists of seven seniors who lead the team to their greatest potential. Hopkinton’s strongest competition this year seems to be Medway, unlike past years where it has been Medfield. “When we play harder teams, we focus on playing the ball on the ground…†said senior Ian Brohm. “We have a very small team (height wise) so that’s why we try to keep the ball moving on the ground, rather than in the air.â€
At this rate, the Hillers have a very good chance in the playoffs. “I think with the way we’re playing, we can make a good run in the playoffs,†said senior Jon Ho. The team is hoping to improve their record on Wednesday, October 7th against Norton, and again on Friday at home against Holliston. “…If we stay focused, I think we have the potential to do very well,†said Brohm. “…it is going to come down to the team who wants it more.â€
