The fielding team finishes their pre-inning talk with some positive reinforcement.

On Monday, June 6, the boys’ varsity baseball team faced a familiar opponent in the first round of the MIAA playoffs. Entering as the #6 seed, Hopkinton met local rival Holliston the #27 seed.

On the hot evening, senior Dylan Locke drove junior Connor Hallenbeck home with a line drive to open the scoring in the first inning.

As the game progressed, the two teams went back and forth, trading runs with the Hillers ahead 6-4 at the top of the sixth inning.

Then in the bottom of the sixth, a four-run burst saw Hopkinton pull away, eventually winning 11-5 to advance.

Wednesday, June 8, Hopkinton faced Norwood in a nine inning one-run battle with the Hillers prevailing on  Joe Carrazza’s RBI single to end it.

The next game sees the team travel to play #3 seed Mansfield Saturday at 12 PM.
