This year, Swati Sharma and Amanda Horan started a red cross club at the high school. The purpose of the club is to participate in community service. They hold fundraisers to help raise money for the club and they also participate in service projects, such as a Pats ticket raffle they are planning for after Thanksgiving.
The club just completed a warm clothing drive for Project Just Because, an organization that helps provide necessities for local families. Many students donated hats, jackets, and gloves to the cause. Now they are focusing on making care packages for the soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan. “We are focusing on more community service projects,” says Swati Sharma, “and we would love it if more people decided to join or volunteer because it benefits a worthy cause.” The officers haven’t come up with the exact date yet, but as the year goes on, the RCCOH will announce future events. Meetings are held every week, but it is not mandatory to come to all of them.
