One day of opportunity for seniors to express themselves differently than usual is Halloween.

Caden Houlihan, a senior participating in senior Halloween, expresses his makeup skills by waking up hours early to do his makeup.
Senior Halloween is an annual Hopkinton High School event held on Halloween, allowing seniors to show off their creative minds and artistic talents. Seniors eagerly run down to the athletic center during flex block to show off their hard work.
Participating senior Dylan Comiskey states, “I worked with my girlfriend to create a creative costume with unique designs on it. Senior Halloween means a time to celebrate and get back with your community by dressing up with them.”
The nine costume superlatives lead to a friendly but fierce competition between all participating students. The competition gives incentive to seniors to show off their efforts.
A passionate group of three dressed as characters from the Wizard of Oz described the process behind choosing a group costume, and the team effort that each of them had to pull it together.
“Senior Halloween means a day of creation and getting to show everyone how spirited we are. And the three of us got to be super creative,” explained senior, Caroline Rowe.
The teachers also enjoy this tradition, showing a huge involvement in choosing the winners in each category.
Mrs. Sylvester, who has been a part of the tradition for many years, said she looks forward to Halloween all year.
“I think that the seniors dressing up is a great tradition at HHS, it is something creative that seniors look forward to,” Sylvester sad.
Megan Cappetta said senior students get out of their comfort zones and show a different side of themselves not normally shared or accepted at school.
