Hopkinton Center for the Arts Presents the HHS Honors Art Exhibition

By Victor Estrella

Art comes in many shapes, colors, textures, and dimensions, and the artwork found at the HHS Honors art exhibition is no different. The exhibition features a variety of different artwork ranging from simple sketches, to colorful portraits, to abstract paintings, and even pottery.

“The Honors Exhibition is an annual show that provides a selective group of upper level art students the authentic experience of being an artist in a community,” said Kris Kellenberger, coordinator of the exhibition. “Although there is a faculty member to coordinate the logistics of the show and act as a liaison to the HCA which hosts the event, the preparation, promotion, curation, and opening reception are all the result of student collaboration.”

From March 30 to April 22 the Hopkinton High School Honors Art Exhibition showcases the diverse variety of artwork created by the local students at the Hopkinton Center for the Arts.

The Exhibition may be centered around the art but one cannot forget about the talented students who worked hard to present their artwork. “Students who are selected have usually created a body of high quality art works and have also demonstrated maturity, reliability, and a commitment to the arts,” said Kris Kellenberger.

The efforts of the students have certainly paid off as the exhibition has been set and all the artwork has been displayed. The student artwork ranges widely with very bright and colorful pieces of artwork like Self Portrait” by Alissa Mitchell and “Koi Fish” by Victoria Feng, along with darker pieces like “Draped Skeleton” by Emma C. Wright.

The Hopkinton Center of the Arts has hosted the exhibition annually and it is one of the most highly anticipated shows as said by Director Kris Waldman. “We host a variety of exhibits here many of which include professional artists. This is one of the most anticipated shows of the year. Many People find it fresh, varied, and inspirational.”

To get a better sense on why these are one of the most highly anticipated shows of the year, take a look at the array of photos showing just a few of the many art displays you can see at the Hopkinton High School Honors Art Exhibition.
