There was a lot of action for the Hillers Wednesday, May 20th, with a host of teams finishing the regular season and preparing for the playoffs.
Bri Mirabile struck out 11 and did not allow a hit in another five inning mercy rule win, as the girls softball team crushed
Dover-Sherborn 21-0 yesterday afternoon. The team is now 15 – 0 in the TVL and 16 – 1 on the year.
The Hillers take one step closer to capturing the league title when they host Norton this Friday at 3:45.
Meanwhile, boys baseball prevailed over Dover-Sherborn, as well, 12-4, behind Cal Holland on the hill. At the dish, Drew Donahue led the team with four hits and four RBI.
Next up the boys play in the Metrowest tournament in Natick, tonight, under the lights, with a 7 PM first pitch.
In a surprise upset, the girls tennis team fell for the first time this season. Having prevailed earlier in the year by a 4-1 margin, the Hillers lost yesterday 3-2 at Dover-Sherborn. Singles #1 Olivia Anderson and the #1 doubles, the Laney sisters, each won, but D/S edged the remaining matchups to hand the ladies their only loss in 16 outings. With two matches left they remain favorites for a league title.
Finally, Westwood hosted the TVL Championship track meet, where the boys team finished second in the league on the season and the girls battled back to tie Norton and become this year’s TVL co-champions.
