Last Thursday, at 6:30 pm, Hopkinton’s finest animators and film fanatics shared their work with the public at the 2009 student animation and video festival. From stop-motion animations by Joss Whittle, to a psychotic story of a crazed man by David Sheehan, the festival showed how ingenious the students of Hopkinton High are. There were two prizes awarded, Best in Show for Film and Best in Show for Animation. David Sheehan’s movie, titled Self Analysis, won Best in Show for Film and Joss Whittle’s animation, titled Alien, won Best in Show for Animation. To get artwork into the festival, applicant’s work had to go through a multi-step process. Not all works are viewed at the festival so, the strongest are picked and then narrowed down into an even more finalized list. Many people showed up to the event, showing their appreciation towards the artists.
